Friday 26th

 By Martha Green

Today was our last day in Zimbabwe which involved a tournament that allowed us to see all the kids we've been coaching over the past week in action being competitive against each other. Me and a group of friends got up bright and early to watch the sunrise of the last day of Zimbabwe. It was beautiful with everyone around the fire pit wrapped up in blankets watching it together, it was a surreal moment.

We had a quick breakfast then headed to the venue for the tournament. I was given the job of team manager which meant spending the day organising and supporting the team I'd coached and selected.  Throughout the week I've become close to many of the kids and so watching them reach the semi-final was a proud moment to say the least. We went back to camp and had a quick turn around before going to cross the border back to Zambia. This involve a 2km trek which proved quite difficult in the blazing midday heat with a massive backpack on (thanks a lot Dad).

We arrived at Fawlty Towers where I was put in a lovely dorm of 8 with all my closest friends in and definitely looking forward to the next 5 days here. Enjoyed a drink by the pool before having a delicious barbecue for dinner and playing games in the common area.

Mum, Dad, Lucas, Nina - missing you loads but having an amazing time here, love you lots and can't wait to see you again soon.

We woke up in Sizinda camp for our last morning in Zimbabwe. We hosted a tournament with the schools we've been coaching for the past week. It was really nice to ref for the kids I'd been with, enjoying themselves and cheering each other on. We provided lunch for all the players before heading back to the camp to have pasta and scranned through our 4kg a day of biscuits.

We packed our stuff then walked 2km across the border to return to Zambia. for our final week. I'm in a dorm with 5 of my friends which I'm really pleased with. We went with outside for dinner.

After that we hung out in the communal area for a while with the hotel cat.

Love you so so much Mum, Dad and Brodie and I miss wee Poppy millions.

  4. Hello Martha! It's lovely to hear from you and to hear that you're having a wonderful time. We're all missing you so much (I'm not certain those are the specific words Lucas would use, I know that it's true). Mum and Nina are in Cornwall, but wanted me to say hello (Mum can't seem to post - you KNOW she would if she could) and that they are both missing you loads. The cats are both well. They have just miaowed to you (I mean, they haven't, but it's a lovely thought. I'm sure they would if they could). I hope you enjoy the last week or so and I hope you enjoy the spacious rucksack you have the opportunity to use. Loads of love from us all! Dad, Mum, Nina, Lucas, Zico and Chomp xxx
