Hello it's Juliana here in Fawlty Towers. Today was our last day in Zambia, I have really enjoyed my time and all the memories I have made. We started off our day with a delicious breakfast of toast, eggs, beans and sausages. Then headed off to the place where we began our Safari, we were put into groups of 7 and 8 and set off in our Safari Trucks. Although it was pretty cold, it was one of the best experiences of my life. We saw Elephants, Giraffes, Monkeys, Hippos and Gazelles, just to name a few, it was incredible. But best of all we saw the last few White Rhinos left in Zambia. We paused for a quick stop for our Fanta and rusks whilst watching out for Crocodiles in the Zambezi River. Then hoped back on our trucks for a quick windy ride back to the hotel.
We had a late lunch at a Café called Zest. I had Margarita Pizza, which I really enjoyed. Then came back for free time which I went to the shops and swimming pool.
Thank you everyone who helped sponsor my run. This would not be possible without you.
Mum, Dad, and Freya, I miss you and cannot wait to hug you on Thursday. Lots of Love always Juliana xx '

Today we got up bright and early for a delicious cooked breakfast and everyone was so excited to go to the safari !! When we got there we split into 5 groups, each on a really cool Jeep. It was amazing, we saw elephants, Hippos in the Zambezi river, Impalas, warthogs, monkeys and so many beautiful birds. The elephants were my favourite and they got so close to the Jeep it was unreal ! I tried to take lots of pictures of the birds because they reminded me of my avid birdwatching grandparents. The park was so fascinating, even when there weren't any animals, with the fresh breeze blowing in our faces keeping us cool. After about an hour, we stopped and I still can't believe this, but we got to see the last remaining White Rhinos in Zambia, it was honestly Magical. Then at the end we stopped by the Zambezi River and had a cold drink (I had Fanta of course - my favourite) with some kind of yummy cake thing. We sat by the river and even the view there was stunning.
We got driven back to Fawlty Towers in the Jeep which was really fun. Then we got to go out for lunch at the same place as last night so us girls got ready together and walked down to the cafe (we went with the rest of the group). I had steak and chips, it was so delicious. We then went in the pool, it was freezing but so much fun.
We wanted to get snacks for the plane so we went to the supermarket. Next was the awards at 4.30pm, it was quite emotional, I felt really proud of everyone's awards. I got one for most improved coach and we all got a cute hand carved Rhino from Mr Horrod. Then sadly we packed for our departure tomorrow, which I am so not ready for, as much as I miss everyone, this trip is just so incredible I just don't want it to end.
Today was full of emotion, happy and sad. Happy because we are in Zambia but sad as the realisation that this incredible, once in a lifetime trip is ending. I want to thank everyone who made it possible for me, especially Mum and Dad, I can't thank you enough. Chloe, I wish you were here with me but I can't wait to see you. Miss you all lots, Mum, Dad, Nanny, Gaga, Chloe and of course Bonnie. I can't wait to tell you all about it. #
P.S Please make sure Chloe comes to the airport.

Hi Everyone I just wanted to tell you about the fantastic day and trip that will sadly come to a close. Firstly today we had a Safari where we saw Antelopes, Elephants, Giraffes, Monkeys, Warthogs, and most mind-blowing: The White Rhino. All were up close and didn't feel real making the experience all the more exciting. (Thankfully I didn't get eaten). This trip has been phenomenal and I am so sad that it is coming to a close. Looking forward to see you. Mia xxx

Hi All, Millie here and I'm here to tell you about our last day in Zambia.
Today we woke up at 6.30 for a 7am breakfast - it was toast, egg, beans, tomato and sausages. We then got into the taxis and went to Mosi-Oa-Tunya (The National Park). We drove along the Zambezi river (the 4th largest river in Africa) where we saw 3 hippos in the water!!
We then saw a gang of buffalos. There were these things that looked like deer but were called Impalas.
We drove along the scenic park road where we came along 4 giraffes who were eating from the trees. Above them were 2 vultures!!
The driver was so nice and told us lots of amazing facts. We saw lots of monkeys with their babies. We then stopped and got out to see the white rhinos. There are only 9 left in Zambia and we saw all 9 of them. One of them was a cute little baby!
We got back into the 'Safari Jeep' and we saw a huge elephant crossing the road behind us - they were so close! We stopped by the river to have drink and a snack before the end of our tour.
They drove us all the way to Fawlty Towers in the Safari Jeeps.
Once we got back lots of us went into the freezing pool - it was a lot nicer once you were in! We got out and headed out to Zest for lunch. I had the children's chicken fingers and chips. It was really nice. We also got the change to try deep-fried caterpillars (it was really spicy) and crocodile (like fishy chicken!)
After lunch we came back we began to pack before the 'awards ceremony'. Everyone who got an award got a little wooden rhino! I got the award for the most positive :)
We went back to packing before quickly popping to the shops to get some bread for dinner as we had a late lunch, we then all chilled in the bar area before bed.
I would like to say a massive thank you to Mr Horrod as well as the teachers who have given up their time to do this.
I would also like to say thank you to my family and friends for sponsoring me and supporting me to do this. I can't wait to see everyone.
Lots of love

It’s the final count down!!! My goodness, time has ended up flying by, after what felt like a life time of you getting from Heathrow to Zambia! The rest of the summer is going to be pretty dull after these blog posts end!! Loved reading all about your safari adventures, what a way to end the trip! We are trying to stay cool in 31degree heat! (Jack, Millie may have stolen your fan, and perhaps taken over your bedroom!) Maisie can’t wait for you to join her in the paddling pool!
ReplyDeleteHuge thanks to Chris and all of the volunteers for keeping these kids safe and supporting a trip of a life time!
Safe travels home all! Hopefully time to catch up on sleep during the flights!
Jack, Grandma wanted to let you know CFC beat Derby County 4-0 in their friendly! She’s looking to hook you up with tickets for the next cup game against them!
Lots of love, Mum, Dad, Millie and Maisie xxxx
It doesn't seem possible that you have all been there two and a half weeks and now preparing for your return flight home. It has been absolutely wonderful to receive all your interesting blogs and pictures. You must all be so very proud of what you have all achieved and the amazing experience which you will remember forever.
ReplyDeleteAlso a huge well done and thank you to Chris and everyone who volunteered especially to Mr Lyle, Ms Perks and Millie and for all their support. Hope you are enjoying your last evening there together albeit sad in many ways I am sure.
So looking forward to seeing you Katie. Loved reading your blog and seeing you in the photos.
Safe journey home.
Lots of Love and hugs
Mum, Dad and Daniel
