Today we went to train the children all day. Most of us went to 5 schools. Some children were older and some were younger but we all had a very nice time. People have been playing Pool on the Pool table in the bar. 

Today there were a lot of monkeys in the camp. One took an orange and another took someone's sandwich. They seem to chase people around. We also saw Zebras right outside a few of our chalets. 

We have been enjoying each others company. For dinner we had Steak, Sausages and salad- for starter it was tomato soup. 

P.S. Happy anniversary Mum and Dad. I miss you all so so much. Fred have an amazing time with Mum and Dad in Spain, I love you xxx

The day started by having breakfast. I had a Tennis biscuit and Cheerio's.  After that we got the coach to the first school we coached at. At this school the children greeted us and were ready to play Tag Rugby. Firstly, we went through some drills such as Bulldog and a game where you have to get as many tags from people in a set amount of time. There were lots of children so it harder to teach and so we just played a big match. 

At around 10 o'clock we went to the second school which had very small pitches, so it was harder to teach as many rules and do as many matches, so we only did smaller mini games. Just before lunch we went to a school just to meet the children. The last thing we did before lunch was to teach Tag rugby at the third school. In this school we started off with some mini games and then went into a match, which I was the referee. These children were very nice and positive. 

After this we went back for lunch and had the choice of a sandwich, crisps and fruit. Shortly after lunch, we went back out to teach more children, where we taught the children the basics of the sport because they were very young and there was a bit of a language barrier. Once we got back from teaching we did some washing and then played Pool, Volleyball and Football. 

Later in the evening we had a barbecue which included Steak and Sausages.

    I can't believe you've been gone less than a week and have experienced so much already! It looks like you're having the trip of a lifetime. Watch out for those cheeky monkeys - you don't want them fleecing your shampoo!! Enjoy enjoy enjoy!!!

First day coaching in Zimbabwe

 Monday 22nd July 2024  By Bess Turpin  Today was our first full day in Zimbabwe, thankfully we were treated with a much needed lie in, 7.30am !! Breakfast was delicious with a range of food including avocado, eggs, toast, fruit and porridge. All full up, we hoped on the bus to our first morning of community projects which was at an old peoples home where we were greeted by an one hundred and eleven year old lady. We were split into groups which were given various tasks such as painting, brick laying and litter picking. I was tasked with removing plaster off a room wall in prep for it to be painted. We meticulously scraped plaster off the walls until the bare brick was exposed. After this hard work we had lunch and moved straight on to coaching which was hard in the beating sun but was very rewarding. Final Tournament and Boat Trip

 Saturday 27th July 2024 By Arthur Bateman  First night back in Zambia after coming back from Zimbabwe. The accommodation is called Fawlty Towers (Yes, it is named after the TV show) and it is epic! Breakfast was a full fry up of eggs, beans, sausages and tomatoes, which was delicious. Then we made our way to our last tournament. However, one of the buses ferrying the children to the tournament crashed. Luckily only the driver was onboard as it was returning and he was safe. This meant the tournament was only an hour and a half long. However, we still had lots of fun and I made friends with all the children from the Jesus Christ Community Club.  After the tournament we returned to Fawlty Towers and chilled by the pool. I shared a Pizza for lunch, and then at 3pm we got on the minibuses to the river cruise. The boat was amazing. Thursday 25th July 2024

By Charles Guyett Stargazed tonight. I don't think I've ever seen so many stars, they were all in random clusters and pairs, the sky was beautiful. We slept on the field just looking up. Woke up at 6am for the sunrise. We went to coach the children at 7:30, arrived at 7:45 and did 2 hours of hard work, we went to the nursing home to help paint and clean new and old buildings. Happy Birthday Bailey and Esme. After the nursing home, we went to camp and our bus broke down. Afterwards, we had sausages and rice for dinner which reminded me of home. Today was great and I can't wait for tomorrow.
